I have a question regarding 30-06 boxes. I have following boxes for 16 cartridges.
one box is 14 Ball cartridges and 2 Tracer cartridges and one box is for 16 Ball cartridges.
Question is: were the cartridges packed in clips for both boxes or were the packed as loose cartridges.

your first box is a Dutch box for 10 ball cartridges 6,5 x 53R for the M95 rifle.
Produced in August 1938

I was offered the following 30-06 by SMI for my collection

If I look at this site, the latest round made by SMI in 30-06 is 1972 (SMI 972)

It is a pre-production package of Fiocchi SM280 rapid fire.

Do you often see such pre-production samples ?

Here are some quick pictures of both versions.
Please note the difference between the more rounded bullet on the red version and the sharp pointed black version.
I know it is hardly visible in the picture, but there is a little difference in the grooves of both black versions.
